Gynaecological Endoscopy in Gregory Hills
Gynaecological endoscopy uses specialised cameras and instruments to diagnose and treat conditions through small incisions or natural openings, avoiding the need for traditional open surgery. Dr Nader Bakhit is trained in advanced endoscopic techniques including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.
Endoscopic procedures offer significant advantages over open surgery, including smaller incisions, less postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster return to normal activities. Dr Bakhit consults at Gregory Hills and performs procedures at partner hospitals in south-west Sydney.

Types of Gynaecological Endoscopy
●
Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy, often called keyhole surgery, involves inserting a small camera through tiny incisions in the abdomen. It is used to diagnose and treat conditions such as endometriosis, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy, and tubal pathology.
●
Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy involves passing a thin camera through the cervix to visualise the inside of the uterus. It is commonly used to investigate abnormal uterine bleeding, remove polyps or fibroids, and treat intrauterine adhesions.
●
Diagnostic Endoscopy
When the cause of symptoms such as pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, or infertility is unclear, diagnostic endoscopy allows Dr Bakhit to directly visualise internal structures and identify the underlying issue.
●
Operative Endoscopy
In many cases, treatment can be performed during the same procedure as diagnosis, avoiding the need for a separate operation. This means faster resolution of symptoms and fewer hospital visits.
